Supreme Court’s Loving decision for its recognition of the right to marry as fundamental and the Court’s refusal to defer to a history of discrimination.Andy’s improvised interviews and performances provide a small but unique and complex archive with which to think about how black genders circulate in India.In this essay, I show how his preference for black masculine male partners...more Andy’s improvised interviews and performances provide a small but unique and complex archive with which to think about how black genders circulate in India.In this essay, I show how his preference for black masculine male partners upholds his own contested femininity, scripts black bodies into the fabric of quotidian India, and renders black femmes invisible.Method: The paper utilizes in-depth interviews with self-identified multiracial women (N = 30) who used online dating platforms to facilitate their dating lives in three cities in Texas: Austin, Houston, and San Antonio.

This interview is part of a new research project that I am working with some research collaborators.We argue that some white people’s aversion to dating and forming relationships with people of color is a form of racism, and this sexual racism is inconsistent with the spirit of Loving.This Article reviews the relevant literature and offers a new theory, namely, that exposure to mainstream gay culture may teach sexual minority men that race and desire are closely intertwined.Findings discuss a range of issues including clashing inter-generational expectations, peer marginalisation, navigating multicultural Australia, racial depersonalisation in the dating scene, "yellow fever" as a form of hermeneutical injustice, ambiguous sexual consent, domestic violence in de facto relationships (queer and straight), and the impacts/implications of legal status within abusive relationships and the dating pool.
